Mark I. Slotkin

Mark I. Slotkin is a bit of a throwback. A tax attorney by training, he has expanded his knowledge through more than two decades of practice in the way that meeting the needs of clients of a smaller firm demands. It is an approach that pleases him, dovetailing with the Dolchin, Slotkin & Todd, P.C. (DS&T) mission to strive for clients and relationships, rather than individual cases.

Mr. Slotkin made the decision to pursue the law following a career as a teacher. Teaching English and science to students at an independent school after college and during law school fine-tuned his ability to effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel and the court.

Following a clerkship with the Honorable Ned Hirsch of the Court of Common Pleas, Mr. Slotkin entered private practice as a tax attorney. A founding shareholder of DS&T, his practice today includes business and commercial law, ERISA and qualified retirement plans, taxation, estate planning and corporate law. “Anything,” he says, “that a client would need in their business or personal life.”

Mr. Slotkin earned both his J.D. and Master of Laws in taxation from Temple University. He holds a B.A. in English from Haverford College.

Mr. Slotkin has been an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, serving at various times in his career in leadership positions with the Young Lawyers Division, the Lawyers Reference Service Committee and the Board of Governors. He has shared his knowledge of forming a business and the legal side of estate planning with various groups. Mr. Slotkin is admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and to the bar of the United States Tax Court. He has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell* for very high to preeminent legal ability and very high ethical standards.

Leisure time for Mr. Slotkin means reading and working in the garden. His love of reading and literature led to his appointment as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Margate City Public Library. An amateur chef, he delights in using the bounty of his herb and vegetable gardens to prepare family meals for his wife, grown children and grandchild.

* Martindale-Hubbell® ratings are determined based on peer review, and are one of the primary ways attorneys are evaluated by corporations seeking counsel and by other attorneys making referrals or seeking counsel outside their jurisdiction.
