DS&T’s Litigation Practice Group chair Joel W. Todd is considered a “hammer” in and out of the courtroom — an unyielding, driving force on a client’s behalf. He coaches his team in the practice of law as war. That’s why the Litigation Group often receives referrals from attorneys whom they’ve come up against — the highest compliment in the legal profession.
At DS&T, every litigator is an experienced trial lawyer, having trained in such intense, high-volume arenas as the Attorney General’s office and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office. DS&T’s litigators are experienced in all manner of courtrooms and hearings, including local and state courts, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission.
The group represents firm clients in all litigation matters, including commercial litigation; catastrophic personal injury; products liability claims; and employment and discrimination matters. DS&T has substantial experience protecting doctors from personal excess exposure in malpractice cases, and is one of very few firms to handle complex cases in Orphan’s Court.
It is also one of a few firms in the region to have success in representing both defendants and plaintiffs in litigation matters. While most firms view a case from the narrow perspective of either a defendant or a plaintiff, DS&T has the unique advantage of understanding a case from all sides.
